Bahco bypass the competition yet again - Bahco can do no wrong when it comes to making professional quality garden shears and secateurs. I write as a gardener who has used Bahco secateurs for some time. I ve also used many, many pairs made by the firm s competitors. All of these rival cutters are now missing bits, (especially the spring), are blunt, and/or are loose so that they mangle and maim rather than shear cleanly. It s only in comparison to the lesser brands that the Bahcos stand out. The spring which returns the handles to the open position is of the old fashioned, coiled-wire variety, as opposed to the strange rolled metal strip that seems to be the standard for a lot of other firms and which inevitably falls out and gets lost. The clip that holds the handles shut is a very basic fold-around clasp that ties one arm to the other. It s not as user-friendly as the safety mechanism on other cutters, but it works, and again, it doesn t fall off.The build quality and reliabilty of the Bahcos is streets ahead of the nearest rivals. These boys keep trucking forever.
